The Victor Farmington Food Cupboard's mission is to serve the hungry with dignity and respect. We provide food to hungry families in Victor, Farmington and the surrounding areas. There are currently 450 families per month receiving food and, to date in 2009, the Food Cupboard has distributed 113 tons of food. We are fortunate to have the generous support of the local community for food drives and monetary donations to help us serve our clients.
20% of the food and supplies in the Food Cupboard come from community food drives. Approximately 70% of the food is purchased through a grant with Food Link. Our buying power with Food Link is tremendous; for every $1 we spend, we receive $3-$4 worth of food. This is a significant way in which we've been able to keep up with the growing number of families served over the past year. We are grateful to the many people who contribute to our annual fund raiser, Feet For Food, and through their United Way donations; as well as those who make independent monetary donations.
